Reed & Barton Fitzhugh Flatware ChestReed & BartonThe Reed & Barton Fitzhugh Flatware Chest, made with a rich mahogany look, is adorned with a kylix-shaped urn. The urn copies a detail on a Baltimore demilune sideboard table, circa 1800, in the Colonial Williamsburg collections. This chest carries on the old Southern tradition of displaying handsome knife cases on the sideboard. Its name pays tribute to 17th-century Virginia silver collector William Fitzhugh, who outfitted his plantation house with a "handsome cupboard of plate" (as sterling was called). This Reed & Barton storage chest holds up to 150 pieces, accommodates scimitar blades in the knife slots and is 17.62" x 12.12" x 7.12" H.
